Buddy set a record!

Today was Buddy's first day at PetSmart and he's been adopted! I didn't even get to say goodbye ... I'm so sad but happy for him at the same time.

I adopted a piggy!

This is Riley, a little rescued piggy. When I saw his cute little face on FarmSanctuary.org I couldn't resist. He needed my help! I hope one day I can go visit him and romp around the farm. Click below for his story.

Buddy progress update

When we first brought him home he was afraid of most things and very unsure of the house. The backyard and the kitchen were the only places he wanted to go. He also didn't want to be bothered by the 2 dogs and 6 mo old kitten. With a lot of patience and letting him explore at his own pace, he now roams the house freely and happily. He now also gets along with all the other animals in the house. I am so proud of the accomplishments he has made. He went from growling at the kitten to allowing him to attack his wagging tail. He either ignores it or plays with him by gently pushing him around the floor with his nose. It's the cutest!

Buddy is a low-medium energy dog. He's perfectly content with just hanging out with the family most of the time. But if you take him for a walk, he will be overjoyed! We've done a little leash training. Once the walk gets started, the leash is fairly loose. He responds to the slightest correction if he starts to pull. He knows the commands to sit and lay down.

All in all, Buddy is a gentle soul and a joy to have in my home. He is incredibly well behaved and will learn whatever you want for just some human affection. He is an absolute people lover and would make a great companion for anyone.

Meet Buddy (AKA Ranger)

This fella is Buddy, the newest foster member of the pack. The shelter was asking for a volunteer to foster him because he was having seizures and needed to be monitored. I couldn't raise my hand fast enough. Ooh, ooh, pick me! And so began the journey home.

He didn't seem all that thrilled with the drive home. He was shaking the whole time but we made it. Then came the outdoor introductions to the pack. He seemed to love the backyard. He was checking everything out and "doing the perimeter check" for us. Next was the intro to the house. DUN DUN DUN.....

With some coaxing we got him in the house. He didn't really know what to do after that. It was unknown if he was potty trained and by the looks of it, he wasn't used to be indoors. He didn't venture far from the back door and made no attempt to leave the kitchen. He just layed there watching us and grumbling if another animal came too close. I'm no psychic but I picked up on the clues that he had had enough for the day. He was super smelly but we decided to wait another day for a bath. That's a whole 'nother story...
